What makes SPÈ candles different?
SPÈ Atelier candles are hand-poured in Speyside, Scotland using ECO soy wax and 100% natural essential oils.
Unlike most candles, we scent exclusively with pure essential oils — not fragrance oils. This creates a softer, refined, and truly natural scent experience.
Each candle is made in small batches and inspired by wild landscapes, botanical traditions, and slow rituals designed to bring nature indoors.
Are SPÈ candles natural?
Yes. SPÈ candles are made using ECO soy wax and 100% natural essential oils.
This is rare in the candle industry. Many candles described as natural still use synthetic fragrance oils. SPÈ uses only pure essential oils for scent.
We believe scent should come directly from nature.
Where are SPÈ candles made?
All SPÈ candles are handcrafted in small batches in Speyside, Scotland.
Our scents are inspired by surrounding landscapes, botanicals, forests, and coastal air of the Scottish Highlands.
What wax do you use?
We use ECO soy wax — a clean burning, plant-based wax that provides an even burn and beautiful natural scent diffusion.
We will never use paraffin wax.
What oils do you use?
SPÈ candles are scented exclusively with 100% natural essential oils.
This is central to our philosophy and one of the defining differences of SPÈ.
Essential oils create a refined, atmospheric scent that gently fills a space rather than overwhelming it.
Are SPÈ candles strongly scented?
SPÈ candles are designed to scent a space gently and naturally.
Because we use 100% natural essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils, the scent experience is more subtle, refined, and atmospheric.
This is often described as quiet luxury scenting.
Burning & Performance
How long do SPÈ candles burn?
Approximate burn times:
Atelier Collection — approximately 60 hours
Studio Collection — approximately 36 hours
Apothecary Collection — approximately 34 hours
Burn time varies depending on room size, airflow, and burn length.
Why is my candle scent subtle?
SPÈ candles use 100% natural essential oils. This creates a softer, more natural scent compared to synthetic fragrance candles.
For best scent throw:
- Burn for at least 2 hours
- Allow wax to melt to the edges
- Trim wick before each burn
- Use in an appropriate room size
Why is my candle tunneling?
Tunneling happens when a candle is not burned long enough.
Always allow the wax to melt fully across the surface during the first burn. This sets the candle memory and helps ensure an even burn.
Why is my wick mushrooming?
This is natural with essential oil candles.
Trim wick to approximately 5mm before each burn for best performance.

The Whisky + Smoke collection is inspired by Speyside distilleries and fireside rituals.
Notes may include oak, smoke, spice, woods, and warm atmospheric accords.
